Restful sleep is very important for physical health, maintaining focus and self-control and remembering what you have learned. Many individuals who have Autism Spectrum Disorders or other neurobehavioral disorders experience significant difficulty obtaining restful sleep on a regular basis.

Sleep difficulties are frequently experienced by persons who have various neurobehavioral disorders such as:

Asperger's Syndrome

Bipolar Disorder

Tourette's Syndrome

mood disorders

Traumatic Brain Injury

anxiety disorders

post-traumatic stress

and various neurodevelopmental disorders

Puz™ Knows the Facts

The total amount of sleep needed each day means the actual time spent sleeping, not simply the time someone was in bed.

Click here for a table that clearly shows you what times toddlers, children, teens or adults need to go to bed in order to obtain the recommended amount of sleep, based on the time the person needs to wake in the morning.

What is the right amount of sleep?

Many people are surprised to find out how many hours of sleep children and adolescents need to be able to focus, learn and control their behavior.

The amount of sleep needed varies by age. Studies show that most toddlers, children, preteens, teens and adults do not consistently obtain enough sleep.

We have created a chart of recommended amounts of sleep needed everyday for you and your child to be able to focus attention, learn and have good self-control.

The Survival Mode reactions that occur when a person's brain interprets a situation as being life threatening are sometimes referred to as the "fight, flight or fright" response.
